There Is More To College Than Just The Classes!
Being in a Bible college can present students with the challenge of juggling their spiritual, educational, social, and physical lives all while trying to work at their job, attend their classes, and be actively involved in their ministries. At Berean Baptist College, we offer students a variety of means by which they can balance all these aspects of college life, so they can become the well-rounded Christian they need to become.
Dedicated Staff
Without a dedicated college staff, student life at any college would seem overwhelming to any student trying to balance all the components of his life. The college staff we have for our students are truly second to none. Our staff members are not unreachable to the students, and many have an open door policy where students can meet with them regarding their work schedules, grades, dating, financial counseling, and any need they feel they need to discuss with someone on staff. This availability is not only a way to help ease the burdens of our students and give them someone to receive counsel from on a regular basis, but our staff serves as an example to the students that “the ministry is people.” Student life at Berean is made so much more relaxing when our students can rest assured that there are staff members on hand to help with even the smallest of questions.
Ministry Opportunities
Under the direction of Berean Baptist Church, our college has some unique opportunities for our students to be able to get “on the job training” in the ministry. The ministries we have for our students vary from dedicated soul-winning groups to Sunday nursery workers to working in the sound room under our veteran soundmen and so much more! The opportunities for growth as a Christian at Berean Baptist College are truly endless. There is not one student who is not involved in some type of ministry at Berean Baptist Church, and there are many opportunities in the future for even more ministry involvement for our students!
Amazing Activities
Although the Bible is first and foremost our focus at Berean Baptist College, the balance of this is found in having our students enjoy our Saturday activities coordinated by our Activities Director. By learning how to interact with each other, having opportunities to date, being able to relax after a long work week and class schedule, our students learn how to become balanced in their Christian lives. Our Activities Director ensures that the activities we offer for students are unparalleled by any college in the nation! Love roller coasters? We routinely have an activity scheduled during the year for Disney World, Islands of Adventure, Wild Adventures, Epcot, etc. Prefer the elegance of the fine arts? We have an annual activity to attend the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra located in the Jacoby Symphony Hall in downtown Jacksonville to see Handel’s Messiah as well as other symphonic masterpieces. Our activities range from a gym night on campus to a late night hayride in the country. Just as we teach our students to balance their lives, we balance our activities and encourage students to just relax and enjoy themselves for a little while.
An Environment for Success
Student life at college can seem like a monumental balancing act for students as they strive to learn how to become who and what they need to become. Berean Baptist College is a place where students are not only encouraged to grow, but are helped and given opportunities to do so along the way. The staff members at Berean Baptist College are here to help our students grow to reach the potential they already have inside them. Our students are not set up for failure. They are placed in environments where they can learn to do exactly what they will need to do in life after they have completed their college careers. I Timothy 4:12 says, “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” At Berean Baptist College, our students are an example to the lost and to believers alike that living a balanced life for the Lord is truly a wonderful life.
