A Distinct Difference at Berean Baptist College
There are a number of Bible colleges from which a young person can choose. What makes Berean Baptist College different from all of the others? We believe that Berean Baptist College is different for the following three distinct reasons.
The education and development of our churches’ young people is an important and sacred endeavor. The philosophy of Berean Baptist College can be summarized in one word – Balance! We believe that those who enter full-time Christian service should have elements of strength and beauty. College days should be full of hard work and fun. Students should study the ministry at the same time as they are experiencing it. College is that time of life in which young people strive to educate themselves for the future while they are experiencing the enjoyment of college life today. Graduates from Berean Baptist College should have an understanding of how to build a church and how to dress when they go to church. They should be taught the importance of preaching and the importance of clean restrooms and nurseries. Our young people should be taught the importance of organizing a group, yet realizing the responsibility of caring for an individual. In short, our young people need to be taught balance. This has been the key to the strength and growth of Berean Baptist Church and is an element of strength that is a part of Berean Baptist College.
One of the most important elements of Berean Baptist Church is that it is not just a church, but it is a family. The services of Berean Baptist Church resemble a family reunion as much as they do a church service. It is with that same family cohesiveness we have founded Berean Baptist College.
Berean Baptist College is located in Fleming Island, just outside of the city limits of Jacksonville, Florida. Jacksonville, with its population of over one million people, is just large enough to provide a good job market while being small enough to find your way around quickly and efficiently. Our staff is more than willing to help our students find the employment they need to pay their bills.
Being a small college also has its advantages. Students at Berean Baptist College will have the opportunity of getting to know the staff and faculty personally. This allows students to gain the knowledge of the classroom coupled with the first hand experience of the ministry.
Berean Baptist College gives personal attention to “preacher’s kids.” The attention begins with a limited scholarship and continues with the attention of a number of “preachers’ kids” who are on the faculty and staff of Berean Baptist College.
At Berean Baptist College, attention is being given to the details that affect students as individuals. Dormitories with private showers and changing areas are built and available for student privacy. Ample laundry facilities are located on each floor. The campus is currently being developed to provide the student with a complete and full campus life.
We realize that each student has been reared and trained with a personal touch. That personal touch has come from his parents, pastor, and friends. We want the students of BBC to feel that same special treatment while they are away at college. We want them to be a part of the family.
Berean Baptist College is not interested in training specialists. We are interested in equipping our young people with the education and experience they need to succeed in any area of the ministry. It is our goal for our young men to be equipped to be the preacher or the janitor, as in many cases the only difference between the two is the day of the week. God does not place every young man and lady in a ministry of great size. In most cases, a preacher and his wife have to be both capable and willing to do a number of jobs. Because of this, we want to provide young people with a varied educational background. Our courses of study are unique in that they are designed to familiarize our students with as many areas of the ministry as possible. This is coupled with the many opportunities of Christian service that are provided in the Berean Baptist Church. Students are given the opportunity to obtain first hand knowledge of many different ministries.

In preparing our students for full-time Christian service, we have several outstanding programs of study that are designed to give each student a multi-dimensional education. In addition to our Elementary and Secondary Education programs, we also offer a Bachelor of Science in Office Administration and Business Administration. For our Pastoral Theology Majors, seniors may enter the Pastoral Assistant program. The Pastoral Assistant program allows students to work immediately under an assistant pastor in their area of responsibility. Not just these programs of study, but all of our programs of study are designed to teach balanced, personal service for Christ.
Why attend Berean Baptist College? There are a number of reasons to choose from, but we think that it is a unique place. It is unique because of its balance, personal touch, and its desire to teach the importance of being a servant. We hope that you will choose to be a part of Berean Baptist College.
